Meet a real-life Energy Advisor: Kevin Carpenter efficiently supports retail members

Tipmont REMC Energy Advisor Kevin Carpenter already worked at the co-op when job shadowing an energy advisor got him interested in the position! Now the baseball fan strives to be a source of information for retail members, and has even used his newfound knowledge as an energy advisor to make his house more energy efficient.

How’d you become an Energy Advisor?
I became interested in becoming an energy advisor after job shadowing the previous energy advisor.

What’d you do before?
I was the maintenance supervisor/facilities coordinator for Tipmont REMC.

What’s the last hobby you picked up?
Weightlifting

What’s the best vacation you ever had?
My best vacation was in Arizona in 2017.

If you could switch lives with a person for one day, who would it be?
I would like to experience the life of Derek Jeter.

In a world without electricity, what would you miss most?
I would miss the internet.

What’s the best thing that happened to you yesterday?
I got to spend the day out on the farm with my dad.

How’d you change your energy habits at home after you took this job?
After becoming an energy advisor, I became more aware of my energy consumption. I took steps to make my house more efficient by insulating and air sealing it.

What’s the number one thing members want to know?
Every member wants to know how to be more efficient to lower their energy bill.

What’s the number one thing you wish they knew?
I wish Tipmont members realized that we aren’t just their electric company. We are also there to be a source of information and help for them with any question or concern they might have.

If you weren’t an Energy Advisor, what would you be?
I would be a professional baseball player or a farmer.
